Catalan is a romance language originating from the Latin of the Roman Empire. It has around 10 million speakers and although it is a minority language, it has a wide geographical spread. It is spoken over an area of more than 60,000 square kilometers, including Catalonia (from where it originated) and the Balearic Islands (Majorca, Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera).
Easy Catalan will help you to start learning the Catalan language. It is designed for anyone who has an interest in learning Catalan or who plans a short visit to Catalunya and wants to learn a few phrases (and maybe some grammar).
There is enough basic grammar to help form your own sentences, lessons illustrating grammatical points, simple words and phrases in the Catalan language and links to resources.
When you first start to learning Catalan it can be difficult to know where to begin. Easy Catalan will help containing many basic expressions, which will be useful to anyone who is starting to learn Catalan, or thinking of visiting.
